This happens when they’re under lots of pressure for a long time, and it can even make them feel sad and depressed. When people have too much work and no breaks, it’s bad for them. They don’t get a chance to recharge. Bosses should know that too much work is a problem. They need to make sure employees have a good balance between work and personal life. This stops burnout and helps people feel better mentally.


Too much work doesn’t just make people tired; it can also make them sick. Stress from tight deadlines can even stop employees from spending time with friends and family. In today’s mixed work setup, it’s essential to take time to think and relax. Being able to work without a strict plan can be helpful.

This can stop them from doing their best for themselves and the company. In the long run, this isn’t good for their personal growth and can stress them. This doesn’t just affect them at work, but even after work, too. It’s not good to make someone feel bad overall.

In the past, people didn’t have as much education and experience in work. They had to take any job that paid enough because they had families to care for. This meant they had to keep working even if the workplace wasn’t good. But nowadays, the younger generation, like Gen Z, knows a lot because they can access much information. Many of them finish school and can find good jobs. Also, with parents working, they can take care of themselves better. The money situation isn’t as challenging as before.


Because of this, employees care more about making an impact in their lives than just making money. Success and getting paid are not the only factors they find happiness in regarding work. If they have problems with their mental health, they are likely to ask for changes at work to make things better.

Fostering Flexibility and Privacy: Encouraging Employee Well-being

When workplaces don’t offer flexibility and adjustments for employees with mental health conditions, it can hurt how they feel and perform in their jobs. Mental health problems can vary for everyone and can sometimes be unpredictable. Without the opportunity to modify their work setup, it’s challenging for them to address their issues. This can cause employees to be filled with distractions, wanting to escape from uncomfortable moments. Examples include being stressed, anxious, fatigued, uncertain about their future, bored with their work, and lonely. 


Also, it can be tough for employees to get the help they need, like treatments or therapy, if their workplace doesn’t help them adjust their schedule. This can make their job performance go down because they’re not getting the support they need. If their mental health gets worse due to this lack of help, they might miss more work, too.


Not having flexibility makes it difficult for employees to do their best and be their best selves. On the other hand, when workplaces let employees change their hours, work from home, or take breaks, it helps them handle stress and feel better. This leads to them doing better at work and feeling happier lifestyle.


In short, when workplaces don’t offer flexibility, it’s hard for employees with mental health issues. This can make their mental health worse and their job performance suffer. But when workplaces are flexible, employees can take care of their mental health while also doing well at their jobs.
